Il Buco (Michelangelo Frammartino, 2021) chronicles the true 1961 expedition of northern Italian speleologists who descended nearly 700 meters into the Bifurto Abyss in the Calabrian Pollino plateau. The film contrasts this deep underground exploration with the economic boom of the era, featuring sparse dialogue and profound, immersive natural soundscapes.
The movie will be screened in its original version (with Italian subtitles), making it fully accessible to non-Italian speakers looking for a cultural night out under the stars.
